Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe & Zambia

Oct. 2018

Victoria Falls (Lozi: Mosi-oa-Tunya, "The Smoke that Thunders") is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. I visited here while on an overland journey through southern Africa. It was the dry season, so the water levels were relatively low, but still impressive. I can only imagine what it looks like at the peak of rainy season.

Victoria Falls 2018 While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls is classified as the largest, based on its combined width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft) and height of 108 metres (354 ft), resulting in the world's largest sheet of falling water. Victoria Falls is roughly twice the height of North America's Niagara Falls

Weather conditions were perfect for solar halos.

The solar halo persisted for much of the day.
