On my last night in Dawson,
I was really hoping for a good display of the northern lights,
the clouds had cleared out and there was a solar wind present
so conditions were pretty good. At just before midnight, a few
of us drove out of the city and the light show began. There were
bands of green in the sky and every so often, shimmering pillars
of light would dance overhead. I even got to see tinges of red
in some of the aurora. We stayed out until clouds came in and
covered up the view. What a great way to cap off my visit to
this amazing city, it was totally worth staying out in the twenty
below zero temperatures. |
