The first real winter storm
of the season.
The winter storm system that
rolled through Southern Ontario on Nov 22nd was initially forecast
to be accompanied by up to 20 cm of snow but the colder temperatures
stayed further north. We did end up with a mixed bag of precipitation
including: rain, freezing rain, ice pellets, and snow. With the
winds coming out of the east at daybreak, it was clear that the
wave action on Lake Ontario was going to be significant, and
it was. Large waves crashed ashore in Oakville, Burlington and
Hamilton. They eventually died down once the winds shifted direction
but put on quite a spectacle while they lasted. |
