Lightning

From various locations around the North America in 2013

One of the by-products of tornado chasing is the opportunity to also photograph some amazing lightning displays.

A barrage of Texas lightning bolts.	A lucky shot. A sunset flag with rainbow. I clicked the shutter just in time to catch some lightning with it.

Oklahoma lightning with plenty of branching and fine detail.	An interesting lightning shot I took from a moving car. The camera movement really showed the return strokes in the lightning. Notice how the main channel has several (up to about 5) yet the small branches have none. It is the current pulsing in these return strokes that causes lightning to flicker
