One of the by-products of tornado chasing is the opportunity to also photograph some amazing lightning displays.

Return_Strokes

Oklahoma lightning with plenty of branching and fine detail.
An interesting lightning shot I took from a moving car. The camera movement really showed the return strokes in the lightning. Notice how the main channel has several (up to about 5) yet the small branches have none. It is the current pulsing in these return strokes that causes lightning to flicker
